Arbonga is not far from the border of Burkina Faso. The people there are similar to the Bariba and can very easily learn to speak Baatonu. It is much drier to the north and their fields are not as good. Many Burkina-bé come down to Bani-kperou to work the fields. There are many wise Burkina-bé prophets who can see the future. God has not given them much, but that is the one thing he has given to the Burkina-bé.

[The Baatonu have moved into the Banikoara region relatively recently, less than 200 years ago. Their dialect is mixed with the language across the border and is noticeably different than the "true" Baatonu spoken in Nikki. Many people from Banikoara are embarassed by their accent and when around someone from Nikki or Parakou, will either change the way they speak or pretend to not understand Baatonu at all.]
